What Are We Looking For?

Our Chemical Dosing team in Dalgety Bay is looking for an experienced Mechanical Chargehand to join us on a permanent basis. Your main role will be to assist the Workshop/Site Supervisor on a day-to-day basis ensuring that all work undertaken is completed with due regard for quality, productivity and safety. To liaise with and keep the Workshop/Site Supervisor informed of progress while undertaking the job holder’s own trade skills.

Some of Your Key Duties Include:

- Instruct, direct, control and allocate work to Mechanical Fitters and apprentices paying particular attention to Quality, Productivity and Safety.
- Carry out competence assessments adhering to the specified timetable as set out by the Company.
- In the absence of the Workshop/Site Supervisor, liaise on day-to-day basis with any external contractors engaged on site/workshop.
- Undertake all practical Mechanical work.
- Monitor & maintain consumable stock levels, liaising with the buying department as required.
- Where required manage toolbox talks, permits, review MS and RA.
- Assess tasks ensuring that appropriate certification and equipment is available.
- Ensure that all necessary administration work is completed and returned in accordance with Company and Client procedures.
- Monitor apprentices to ensure tasks completed are delivered to the required quality of workmanship.
- Complete and deliver any required QA documentation.
- Provide technical input into constructability of products prior to release to the workshop.

What Do You Need?
- Fully qualified Mechanical Fitter - City and Guilds or Modern Apprenticeship or equivalent.
- 1-year minimum post qualification experience
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Ability to effectively prioritise and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.
- Must be flexible and willing to travel.
- Must have a good knowledge and understanding of Health and Safety, Quality and Environmental disciplines.
- First Aid at Work - 1 day
- CSCS
- Full UK Driving Licence
