Band 4 Medical Secretary (Oncology)

An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Berkshire Cancer Centre for a Medical Secretary at the Royal Berkshire NHS Foundation Trust.

The secretarial team at the Berkshire Cancer Centre are hard-working, successful and well-established.

They are a vital part of the support services the centre provides to our clinical teams and to our patient cohorts rely on them to be dedicated and effective.

You should be dynamic, an innovative and motivated individual who can work well in a team, as well as individually. You will be the point of contact for all administrative issues, relating to patient pathways of care.

This role is diverse and interesting and includes duties such as scheduling appointments, processing clinic letters and dealing with patients over the telephone.

You must be IT literate and have some knowledge in a hospital setting.

You will be working in a busy friendly environment and therefore, you will need to work quickly and accurately.

We hold flexible working patterns to include working from home and hot desking when in the office.

Training opportunities to support and extend your skill set within the role will be offered to you.

The post holder will be the point of contact for all administrative issues relating to patients’ pathway of care. The post holder will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team and will provide expertise in the proactive management of the patient pathway from referral to discharge, ensuring the entire pathway is managed smoothly.

The post holder will ensure high levels of patient and clinician satisfaction by being as accessible, customer focused and a knowledgeable point of contact and provide a consistent approach across the Trust, using Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to ensure that functions of the role are carried out correctly within given timescales.
