**Purpose of Job**:
To support the provision of our working life and meaningful work opportunities for the residents and day participants of Tigh a’Chomainn Camphill,

To support the workshop leads in delivering a creative, strengths based working environment that seeks to enable the talents and grow the skills of each person,

To be responsive to the needs of the individuals supported in the workshops,

To be responsible for the well being of the individuals supported in the workshops,

To take an active interest in issues regarding the whole Community,

To support the ethos and ecological aspirations of Tigh a’Chomainn,

To engage with members of the public in order to support our public education strategy.

**Responsible for**: Residents

**Major Tasks**:

- To be responsible for the safety and welfare of all living and working at Tigh a’Chomainn. To ensure a safe working environment for all.
- To uphold and contribute to the social/therapeutic impulse of Tigh a’Chomainn, as part of the Camphill philosophy. To be present and actively participate in the annual festivals.
- To support workshop leaders as required, and to ensure adequate cover and smooth running of workshops and the Day Service.
- To work with workshop leaders, participating in the workshops and providing support as directed.
- To contribute to a positive working environment within the workshops and engage the Residents in workshop tasks and projects.
- Leadership, instruction and supervision of the volunteer foundation students and residents when workshop leader is not present.
- To communicate with members of the public the aim and practice of our workshops.
- Support and promote other public activities such as participating in farmers markets or similar.
- To provide meaningful work opportunities for residents and day participants according to their abilities and skills. The resident’s work plan should be based on encouraging the development of dignity, self-esteem and independence as well as the development of knowledge and skills in their areas of interest all within the structure of equal opportunities.
- To liaise with other members of the workshop team and the Senior Management Team to ensure that Residents’ needs are met within their work environment.
- To manage and record accidents and incidents as required.
- Any other reasonable duties, as and when required, to meet Tigh a’Chomainn Camphills’ needs.
- To participate in training for your own personal and professional development.
- When required, to provide support and cover for day participants during non -workshops times between the hours of 9am - 5pm (exclusive of your own break times).

**Safety, Welfare and Quality of work.**

Ensuring that all co-workers uphold the dignity of residents working in the Garden workshop, so that all are able to play an active part in the workshop.

Ensure the upkeep of all tools, equipment and machinery in the workshops.

Supporting all at Tigh a’Chomainn to be involved in decision making in a meaningful and constructive manner regardless of ability and using appropriate communication tools. Ensuring that residents are encouraged and enabled to express their opinions and wishes.

Actively encouraging participation with others in the wider community.

Ensuring that matters of Health and Safety are accorded the highest priority and that all requirements in terms of the law and Policies are met.

Contribute to the development and implementation of the individual Support Plans and Risk Assessments.

To attend Workshop planning meetings.

**Public facing**

To provide information to the best of your knowledge and training that fosters the promotion of socially and ecologically resilient communities.

**Support and Supervision**

Supporting and supervising the co-workers and ensuring that their training needs are met, delivering on the job training as required and ensuring inductions are completed and recorded.

Taking an active part in Environmental Group and Workshop meetings.

Take part in regular support and supervision sessions and one annual appraisal.

**Co-ordination of Working Environment**

Ensuring that at all times there is sufficient cover in the workshop to meet the Staffing standards.

According the Health and Safety of residents and workers the highest priority at all times and ensuring that the procedures agreed for ensuring compliance with health and safety legislation are known and adhered to.

Maintaining Fire safety procedures as required by law.

Monitoring sensitively the actions of any person who may pose a risk to another and in consultation with the Senior Management Team, taking appropriate action in line with the Community policy when the need arises.
