As a corporate governance specialist you will have the experience and knowledge to take on a wide range of responsibilities, including advising and supporting the Trust's Board of Directors and Council of Governors.

Working as a senior part of the Corporate Affairs team you will be responsible for the smooth running of the Board and its committees, the Trust's primary executive committees and the Council of Governors. In recent years the Trust has gone through a period of significant organisational change, particularly following the merger with Royal Brompton & Harefield NHS FT in February 2021. As such, a key responsibility will be to help ensure the Trust's corporate governance arrangements remain fit for purpose and befitting an organisation of the size and complexity of Guy's and St Thomas'.

You must be able to work effectively with stakeholders both internal and external to the Trust, including the Board and regulators, relevant members of the Integrated Care System and South East London Acute Provider Collaborative.

We are seeking to appoint an individual with excellent verbal and written communications and strong organisational skills to deliver multiple workstreams simultaneously. You should be able to evidence that you have, or are working towards, a relevant governance qualification.

Provide Trust-wide leadership on corporate governance including supporting the provision of corporate governance advice to the Chair, Chief Executive and Board of Directors.

Lead the Corporate Affairs secretariat function that runs the Board of Directors and the executive management team and the key related committees.

Ensure that the Trust complies with relevant legal, constitutional and regulatory requirements including compliance with its provider licence.

Help maintain a comprehensive and robust corporate governance framework across the Trust, regularly evaluating and improving this as the Trust evolves.

Develop and drive excellence, establishing outstanding governance policy and practice across the Trust, including ensuring that all relevant governance documents are maintained.

Contribute to the design and delivery of a comprehensive induction and development programme for non-executive directors and governors.

Lead on the development of the Trust’s annual report and statements that form part of the annual report and accounts.

- Experience working at a senior level in NHS corporate governance;
- Experience in leading a high-performing secretariat function;
- Strong understanding of corporate governance principles and the requirements for NHS organisations set out in the NHS Code of Governance;
- Thorough understanding of the NHS and the challenges it faces;
- Excellent organisational, planning and time management skills, enabling working on own initiative and prioritising workloads; and
- Strong written communications, particularly reports, business cases and formal meeting minutes.
