Manchester, United Kingdom The Christie NHS Foundation Trust Full time

We have an exciting role within the R&I office for a R&I Income Support Officer (Band 6).

This post is an integral part of the R&I Division’s core function which exists to provide an efficient support service for the research delivery teams and both internal and external researchers enabling the Trust to deliver its research ambitions.

The purpose of this role is to support the core R&I Office with the management of research projects, particularly the costing review of commercial and non-commercial research following AcoRD and NIHR guidelines, and support of contract processing that are submitted to the office for review and sign-off. The role also requires to support invoicing activity and liaising with stakeholders to resolve any issues linked to the above. The management of these tasks requires accurate documentation and tracking, as well as a good working knowledge of GCP and research governance requirements. The post holder is also expected to provide general administrative support to facilitate the overall management of research projects within the Trust, including research sponsored by the Trust, to ensure compliance with the relevant legislation and research governance requirements.

The Christie is one of Europe’s leading cancer centres, treating over 60,000 patients a year. We are based in Manchester and serve a population of 3.2 million across Greater Manchester & Cheshire, but as a national specialist around 15% patients are referred to us from other parts of the country. We provide radiotherapy through one of the largest radiotherapy departments in the world; chemotherapy on site and through 14 other hospitals; highly specialist surgery for complex and rare cancer; and a wide range of support and diagnostic services. We are also an international leader in research, with world first breakthroughs for over 100 years. We run one of the largest early clinical trial units in Europe with over 300 trials every year. Cancer research in Manchester, most of which is undertaken on the Christie site, has been officially ranked the best in the UK.

You will be working in a friendly and supportive team which works closely with colleagues across the division and wider Trust. This role will be a great opportunity to support our growth as a centre of excellence in research.
