**Salary**: £22,500 per annum

**Working hours**:Full-time, 40 hours per week (Monday-Friday)

HMP Dovegate is a category B male establishment prison based on the Staffordshire/Derbyshire border near Uttoxeter. The operational capacity is for 1160 prisoners and it takes a whole team of people to keep the facility safe, secure and in proper working order.

The key purpose of this role is to provide catering & administration support for the catering services within HMP Dovegate, in accordance with all relevant and current regulations, legislation and guidelines.

As a Kitchen Assistant you will assist in prisoner movements and searches to and from the kitchen. You will be required to collate menu information and prisoner numbers for the daily food production. You will ensure the security and food safety of all food related products. You will be taking and checking off deliveries ensuring the correct storage, whilst supervising prisoners. You will have various administrative duties throughout the day. This is very much a hands-on job role which is vital to the running of catering department.

**What you need to do the job**

Food Safety level 2 is desirable, however we can provide training. Previous administrative experience would be an advantage. You are required to have basic IT skills.

Skills & knowledge:

- A strong commitment to the rehabilitation of prisoners.
- Good supervisory skills with strong interpersonal skills, including a good oral and written communication.
- Able to demonstrate resilience with a basic understanding of both conflict resolution and de-escalation and risk and conflict management
- Commitment to working effectively in a socially diverse environment, with a good team ethic.
- Excellent time management.
- Assertive, creative and progressive along with good problem-solving skills.
