**JOB SUMMARY**:
The post holder will be responsible for the efficient and safe operations in the Fabrication and Pipe Fitting Shops. Overseeing package builds to completion and to specification whilst providing hands on support.

**MAIN DUTIES OF JOB**:

- Assisting with ‘Quality’ and ‘Health & Safety’ implementation of safe systems of work, risk assessments and method statements related to all aspects of the shop operation
- Read, interpret and follow engineering plans, drawings and instructions to ensure exact specifications of output
- Planning and delegation of work to team members
- Proactively developing and maintaining collaborative working relationships with and between all departments
- Providing hands on advice to other team members in production, as required, together with pre-production checking of drawings and works orders
- Control and implementation of welding department quality, documentation and efficient function
- Fabricating/welding work in various metals
- Perform quality checks to ensure products meet quality standards
- Ensure production times are met
- Perform all work in accordance with quality standards and safety procedures
- Maintain machinery and tools using preventative maintenance methods
- Maintain a clean and safe working environment

**Education**

Essential
- Welding/Mechanical Engineering / Fab-Pipe fitter Apprenticeship

Desirable
- Visual Inspection Welding Certificate or similar qualification
- Welding/Fab & Pipe fitting experience

**Essential Knowledge and Experience**
- Experience of working in a manufacturing or engineering environment.
- Welding/Fabrication and pipe fitting experience
- A good level of computer literacy and numeracy skills
- Knowledge and understanding of a variety of manufacturing processes and ability to evaluate and analyse associated cost
- To be organised, accurate and have an eye for detail
- Knowledge and experience of rotary equipment
- Planning and organisational skills

**Desirable Knowledge and Experience**
- Knowledge of welding techniques and welding procedures/ specifications as applicable to ferrous, non-ferrous and exotic alloys
- Understanding and experience in the specifications & standards requirements. API, ISO, PED
- Ability to check fabrication and isometric drawings
- Previous experience of leading/supervising a team

**Workshop hours (38) are**:
Monday - Thursday 7.30 am - 4.00 pm

Friday 7.30 am - 1.30 pm
