Materials Estimator

We are currently looking for a materials estimator to join our client in Blandford at a world class engineering solutions partner.

This role would suit an individual who has an engineering or prototype wiring technical background as having a technical understanding of drawings and components is essential.

The Role Will Involve:

- Assessing the risk level of materials sourcing
- Researching the availability and cost of suitable materials
- Gathering quotes from sub-contractors and suppliers, identifying the most suitable
- Technical knowledge and experience to source equivalent ad replacements for obsolete components.
- Negotiating and securing best prices
- Providing advice to colleagues on estimating, materials costing and availability
- Producing comprehensive compilation of cost and lead times for proposals
- Collating materials sourcing information for future reference (in the event of a customer order)
- Develop and maintain effective relationships with suppliers and sub-contractors.
- Supporting the professional development of other purchasing department members
- Suggesting & implementing process improvements within the Company’s Continuous Improvement framework
- Have a proven track record in materials sourcing
- Have technical knowledge and experience
- Be an experienced negotiator
- Be proficient in Excel
- Possess all requirements for successfully meeting formal Security Check (SC) criteria
- Have excellent commercial awareness
- Have a technical understanding of components and materials
- Have sound mathematical & numeracy skills
- Be detail-orientated
- Have a solid understanding of supply chain operations and markets

Hours:

- Hours: 32-37 hours per week, typically comprising of 8 hours Monday-Thursday, 5 hours Friday (preferably 37 hours if possible a part time role from 32 hours up could be considered)

Working Week: Mon-Thurs = 8 hours paid (8.5 hours on site), flexible start/finish (as early as 7am start, 4pm finish, or as late as 9am start, 6pm finish. Friday = 5 hours paid (early start as 7am)

Holiday Entitlement: 24 days (192 hours) per year plus bank holidays, holiday can be taken in hours rather than full or half days if the employee prefers.

**Salary**: £22,853.11-£58,174.25 per year
