- Degree/graduate diploma in Speech and Language therapy
- Health Professions Council (HCPC) registration
- Member of the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists
- Member of a professional specialist interest group in neurological practice ( CEN Clinical Excellence Network )

**Desirable criteria**:

- Additional qualification or Certificated post graduate courses or equivalent in-house training in clinical specialty e.g. MSc or accredited courses at postgraduate level in specialist clinical area

**Experience**:
**Essential criteria**:

- Substantial under & post-graduate general clinical experience
- Significant level of experience in relevant clinical area for example working with patients in community settings with physical disabilities, long term neurological conditions, and neuro rehabilitation
- Substantial experience as a SLT Band 6 or some experience as a SLT Band 7.
- Evidence of CPD in the form of a professional portfolio detailing post-graduate structured, supervised in-service training received/attended
- Experience teaching/education of colleagues, multidisciplinary team and/or public/carers
- Experience of working alone, self-managing time and using excellent organisational skills
- Evidence of having supervised qualified Speech and Language therapy colleagues
- Experience of carrying out appraisal
- Excellent team building and team working skills
- Active involvement in clinical audit and policy / guideline implementation
- Active contribution to service improvement
- Evidence of presentation of own research/project/service development work which informed departmental development
- Thorough understanding of setting & maintaining clinical standards
- Active contribution to service improvement
