Role Description

**West Mercia Women’s Aid (WMWA) is working hard to continue to provide much-needed support for women and children affected by domestic abuse.**

**We are seeking to recruit a Support and Advocacy Worker to work 5 days in our Refuges, providing essential support to women and children who have been affected by domestic abuse. This role requires face-to-face support and working within shared residential accommodation.**

**Our refuges are fully operational and are run in accordance with government guidelines for the safety of staff and residents. This includes the provision of appropriate PPE. It is not possible for this position to be conducted remotely.**

- Skilled at working both with individuals and with groups to promote understanding and focus on empowerment and confidence

**Your refuge role will include..**
- Providing individual and group support, risk assessment and safety planning to women living temporarily in a WMWA refuge.
- Offering advice to residents on budgeting, welfare and housing benefits, and assisting residents in obtaining and resettling into permanent accommodation
- Liaison with external agencies and facilitating access to other WMWA services
- Casework management skills together with good written and verbal communication
- Practical tasks to ensure the smooth running of the refuge
- Car user essential

**An understanding of the importance of maintaining clear professional boundaries is essential in this busy role.**
