Duties and Responsibilities This post will work under the line management of the Deputy Specialist Stop Smoking Service Manager and supervised by the Head of Smoking Cessation. The role will be varied, challenging, and rewarding as the services develop within Secondary Care as part of the national 10 - year plan. Key responsibilities will be: Work as part of the secondary care team within the boundaries of an honorary contract To build relationships with relevant hospital personnel to ensure own expertise is utilised to influence evidence base practice is embedded and governed by hospital policies and protocols Work cohesively with other services to ensure smoking cessation is integrated within multi-agencies Participate in meetings applicable to the development of the Smoking Cessation programme within secondary care Ensure a robust and timely referral care pathway is embedded within secondary care Ensure clients have access to appropriate pharmacotherapy as speedily as possible on admission to hospital Deliver smoking cessation interventions with clients at the bedside and ensure a seamless transition into ABL Health community services Provide clients with evidence-based smoking cessation support determined on the individual's nicotine dependency and in line with the hospital formulary Identify opportunities to develop and improve services for clients Assist in the organisation of the workload ensuring effective and efficient communication to other staff members Maintain own knowledge of evidence-based methods and integrate new research into own practice Provide tobacco dependency and cessation advice and training to secondary care staff at all levels Contribute to service reviews and write reports where applicable Participate in audits / research and ensure service standards are maintained Maintain accurate and confidential client records including follow up, including the quality of care also ensuring compliance with information governance Take part in promotional events in the Acute setting, for example, No Smoking Day Write reports as required Skills and Competencies Required Be an experienced Smoking Cessation Practitioner in an Acute health system Experience of evolving and developing services within a complex health environment. Positive and proactive outlook with the ability to motivate, engage and support others to achieve the highest standards and outcomes.

Adept in communication; A strong communicator who adapts the message to fit the needs of the audience including clients and secondary care staff at all levels Build strong relationships; Foster trust and co-operation among colleagues, stakeholders throughout the Acute settings Quality driven; you naturally seek high standards and actively seek to improve them. Value and remain open to new ideas and perspectives. Training will be given to ensure staff / applicants are equipped to deliver effective services.
