The Safeguarding Adults Support Practitioner will have a key role in supporting the assurance of safeguarding services and processes across all levels of the organisation. They will support staff to discharge their statutory duties to recognise and report abuse and neglect and comply with national, regional and local multi-agency safeguarding procedures.

The post holder must be able to work independently when required; have excellent written and verbal communication skills. They will be highly motivated and resourceful and have IT skills.

The Safeguarding Adults Support Practitioner will provide advice, support and signpost Health Board staff in matters relating to safeguarding. They will support the Safeguarding Enquiry Process, manage an appropriate caseload of safeguarding reports and assist in the delivery of training. The postholder will advise on a host of different safeguarding issues.

We are looking for a practitioner with a current Health care
qualification and professional registration and is up to date and able to evidence their safeguarding training requirements to the appropriate Level.

The successful post holder will have evidence of continuing
professional development and knowledge of legislation, policies
and procedures for safeguarding (including Social Services and
wellbeing (Wales) Act 2015, Violence Against Women, Domestic Abuse and Sexual Violence (VAWDASV) Act 2015, Mental Capacity Act, Dols (LPS),
Human Rights Act).

The Safeguarding Adults Support Practitioner must be able to able to respond and deal with distressing concerns and be able to identify when situations / patient / service user safety concerns need to be escalated. They must be able to work across professional and geographical boundaries and able to prioritise a number of conflicting priorities and complex issues at one time.

Hywel Dda University Health Board is the planner and provider of NHS healthcare services for people in Carmarthenshire, Ceredigion, Pembrokeshire and its bordering counties. Our 11,000 members of staff provide primary, community, in-hospital, mental health and learning disabilities services for around 384,000 people across a quarter of the landmass of Wales. We do this in partnership with our three local authorities and public, private and third sector colleagues, including our volunteers, through:
**Four main hospitals**: Bronglais General in Aberystwyth, Glangwili General in Carmarthen, Prince Philip in Llanelli and Withybush General in Haverfordwest;
**Seven community hospitals**: Amman Valley and Llandovery in Carmarthenshire; Tregaron, Aberaeron and Cardigan in Ceredigion; and Tenby and South Pembrokeshire Hospital Health and Social Care Resource Centre in Pembrokeshire;
48 general practices (four of which are managed practices), 47 dental practices (including three orthodontic), 99 community pharmacies, 44 general ophthalmic practices (43 providing Eye Health Examination Wales and 34 low vision services) and 17 domiciliary only providers and 11 health centres;
Numerous locations providing mental health and learning disabilities services;
Highly specialised and tertiary services commissioned by the Welsh Health Specialised Services Committee, a joint committee representing seven health boards across Wales.
