An opportunity has arisen to join the NYP Economic Crime Unit as a Fraud Assessor. Fraud is a growing area of business within policing with the type of offences both varied and complex.

NYP Economic Crime Unit (ECU) is the link between Action Fraud and the police and is responsible for the dissemination of all fraud investigations within the service. They are also responsible for providing advice and guidance to investigators in local areas to help them secure convictions.
- securing further details or statements from victims and witnesses
- liaising with financial investigators or digital media investigators to develop evidence
- writing investigative plans for incidents
- reviewing and assisting colleagues from other departments with fraud investigations
- Assisting supervisors to ascertain if a report of fraud should be fully investigated or whether another agency is better placed to pursue the matter.
- Experience of supporting victims of crime
- Ability to manage their own workload and work independently
- Specialist knowledge of fraud investigation and an understanding of how fraud investigation often intersects with various public/private organisations are essential requirements to this role.
- PIP Level 1 & 2 accreditation or able to demonstrate prior knowledge and experience as an investigator.
- Excellent communication skills, written and oral; including the ability to communicate difficult messages with tact, sensitivity and authority.

Desirable
- An understanding of the interdependency of various public/ private sector organisations as related to fraud investigation.
- An existing network of contacts in public/private sector organisations relevant to fraud investigation.
- Specialist Fraud Investigator or equivalent qualification.
- Ability to travel round the force area and nationally as required.
