Working as part of the Waltham Forest Recovery College (WFRC) the Peer Trainer will have lived experience of mental health issues and/or services.

Working as part of the the WF Recovery College team to co -design, plan and successfully deliver courses and workshops.

You will be responsible for inspiring, modelling and informing others, and to draw positively on your own experience to deliver recovery courses and workshops to the Recovery College students.

As Peer Trainer you will work alongside the Recovery College Lead, users of mental health services, their carers, volunteers and staff, to co -design, plan and successfully deliver courses and workshops.

Courses are focused on providing a better understanding of mental health issues, learning and developing peoples life skills and knowledge, and health and well being.

The post is part time, 15 hours a week across two days.

The post requires travelling within the borough and flexibly working from number of team sites and community venues.

The Recovery College offers a 'blended delivery' - both in person and on line courses and workshops, so the working style of all the college staff reflects this pattern.

Probationary Period

Starting with NELFT

NELFT place a great deal of importance on new starters being properly welcomed and inducted into the Trust. All new starters will join the Trust on the first Monday of each month and will undertake a comprehensive induction of up to two weeks which will include mandatory training, systems training and the allocation of equipment. As part of the process new starters will have the opportunity to also meet the executive team, senior managers and attend a number of drop in sessions focusing in engagement, health and wellbeing and key processes. The induction will be held at our head office in Rainham, Essex.

High Cost Area Supplement - London

This post also attracts payment for High Cost Area Supplement of 15% of the basic salary (minimum payment of £4,313 and a maximum payment of £5,436 per annum pro rata).
- To plan, co - produce and deliver courses and workshops
- Work alongside people with lived experience and those with professional experience
- Support users of services to actively engage in the Recovery College
- To support the promotion of the College
- To support scheduling of the Recovery College timetable
- To assist the WFRC students to identify their strengths, personal interests and goals
- To participate inn the Recovery College steering group, and other required meetings
- To support user participation and engagement in the WFRC
- To act as a positive role model to students to inspire hope, share life experiences and lessons learned as a person in recovery
- To support the recruitment of volunteers and provide support to volunteers
- Assist with the collection of student feedback, relevant data, etc, to ensure the WFRC delivers on performance outcomes
