The Outdoors Group’s Transitional Learning Programme is an alternative provision that is based solely outside in a woodland setting to offer support to learners with SEMH and ASC needs who may struggle in educational settings. We provide bespoke daily sessions, which operate on a 1:1 or small group basis utilising the outdoor environment. We work closely with the learners’ support networks, both professional and familial and try to create a holistic and engaging place for the learners to grow.
- We are open to applicants who can work at any of our sites which are currently at Exeter, Exmouth/East Devon, Okehampton & Tiverton/Wellington._

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

- Manage the behaviour of your learner which may lead to crisis management.
- Provide excellent behaviour management support skills to support learners who display behaviours that challenge
- this may include cover at alternative locations at times
- Plan engaging games and activities based on the needs of the learner/s.
- Use support-based and relationship-based approaches for the social, emotional and mental health needs of the learner.
- Completing report logs as necessary - daily and termly

Responsibilities of the post will also include:

- Reporting daily attendance through a web-based system
- Communication with parents/carers at drop off and pick up times
- Reporting of accidents, incidents, and safeguarding when necessary
- Goal-setting for learners in conjunction with EHCPs and recommendations from schools/agencies
- Contributing information to Head of TLP in order to update external agencies
- Engaging in CPD with colleagues (training and skill-sharing opportunities)
- Contributing to the general upkeep of the site, toilets/structures, and resources
- Travel to different sites will be necessary, though an effort will be made to keep work as close to employee’s home locations as possible. (Exeter, Tiverton/Wellington, Okehampton, Exmouth/Sidmouth)
- This post requires a DBS check._

Essential
- Excellent behaviour management skills with a high emphasis on solution-focussed planning and delivery of bespoke SEMH skills program.
- Excellent support skills with a commitment to critical reflection and professional development.
- A learner-focussed approach and ability to differentiate and create bespoke opportunities according to learner needs
- Knowledge of behaviour intervention and support practises
- Commitment to safeguarding and safe practise
- An understanding of learners with challenging behaviour

Desirable

- Ability to work successfully as part of a team
- Enthusiasm and drive for improvement
- Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills (written and oral)

- Willingness to travel across company sites (at the moment this includes Okehampton, Exeter, and Exmouth)

- 5 GCSE’s grade A-C or equivalent
- Willingness to complete necessary qualifications and training
