**Hospital Porter**
We've got a fantastic opportunity for a Hospital Porter to join our busy Portering team at One Hatfield Hospital. We're looking for enthusiastic experienced housekeepers who are passionate about their role and share our high standards.
Our hospital is open 7 days per week - you will also be required to work weekends as and when needed based on your availability.
**Hospital Porter**
You will ensure that excellent standards of cleanliness and hygiene are both achieved and maintained at all times.
As a key member of this vital team, you will be charged with all aspects of cleaning within all clinical and communal areas and consultation rooms. This will include infection control and quality assurance.
- This critical role is key to the safety and well being of our patients and team members while portering.
To assist with the day to day running of the hospital, within the remit as porter The key roles and responsibilities of the job are inclusive, but not restricted to:
- ** Patient Services**
- Assist with escorting patients to their room
- Assisting as a member of the crash team as a non-clinical assistant, when required
- Assist with patient discharge from Wards to reception
**Follow up care**
- Transporting patients for X-rays from the ward post op to imaging department
- Transferring patients from our day surgery unit on to the Ward
- Transferring patients from recovery to Day-Surgery/In-patient rooms
**Waste Management**
- Day to day management of waste compound (external) keeping tidy and clean
- Day to day transfer of waste to the waste compound from internal areas (where required)
- Checking clinical waste in all areas throughout the day and maintaining high standards of cleanliness
- Ensuring there is enough storage for clinical waste, and escalating if there are any issues
- Ensuring correct PPE is always worn for waste handling
**Cleaning Services**
- Cleaning & assisting to keep staff areas in the theatre clear and tidy
- Cleaning trolleys and wheelchairs
- Cleaning bed and trolleys after use
- Reporting damages on the maintenance log and ensuring the outside area is kept clean (including the terrace space in the spring/summer months)
- Assist housekeeping team and department to maintain the general areas
**Events**
- Helping to set up meetings and events room on daily basis
**Departments**
- Assisting with deliveries/contractors within the hospital
- Being a point of contact for any help needed in the hospital, within reasonable request
- Assisting the Stores team with delivering parcels to departments (when required)
- Collecting used linen on a regular basis from departments
- Organising/ refilling clean linen to the correct cupboard
- Any other reasonable management request
**Qualifications**:
- G.C.S.E or equivalent
**Experience**
- Working within a hospital environment with a patient services background.
- Experience with patients face to face
- Customer Service Experience
**Skills**
- Good communication, verbal and written
- Able to manage and prioritise own work load based on the activity of the day
- Able to stay calm under pressure
**Desirables**
- Knowledge of Health and Safety in the workplace
- Knowledge of waste management within a hospital environment
