As part of this exciting period of growth, we are currently looking for a Head of Responsive Repairs to lead our responsive repairs team, who are providing a customer focused 24/7, 365 days per week responsive maintenance provision to the London Borough of Hounslow.
**About the role**
To assist the Countryside Team with the delivery of our programme of work across several countryside sites within the borough, with a primary focus on a brand new ‘Volunteering in Parks’ programme.
Lampton are responsible for the management of all of Hounslow’s parks and open spaces, and the Countryside team specifically manage the Borough’s local wildlife sites, nature reserves and SINC sites (sites of importance for nature conservation). This new, fixed term role aims to develop and deliver a programme of volunteering across several additional sites across the Borough, to engage the local community in participating with their local green spaces through some practical conservation and maintenance tasks, litter picking, habitat creation, safety improvements like increasing sight lines through dense areas, and enhancing biodiversity. The Countryside team already run several volunteering sessions across the Borough, but this new position will increase our capability to run at least another 6 x 2-hour sessions per week at a variety of parks and green spaces across the Borough that currently do not have any volunteering opportunities within them.
**Key Responsibilities: -**
- To work within a team of experienced and knowledgeable rangers from Lampton’s Countryside Service. You will primarily be tasked with helping to create and then deliver, a programme of seasonal volunteering tasks, initially across 6 specified sites within Hounslow, but with the intention of growing the programme across the 2 years to include additional sites as well as ad hoc volunteer sessions at non-regular sites.
- To engage with our existing social media pages, as well as physical media (i.e.. Leafletting) to promote these new volunteer sessions, reaching out to local schools, business, and medical centres as well as residential properties to encourage participation in the new sessions.
- You will need to liaise with existing Friends groups and other stakeholder groups for these designated sites, in order to work collaboratively and inclusively, with the aim of increasing biodiversity being at the heart of what you do.
- You may also assist the Countryside conservation team with data collection for wildlife species, including bat, reptile, butterfly, moth, mammals and bird surveys; and also delivering nature walks to educate the community and promote the conservation programme across the borough. You may assist with the treatment and removal of invasive species.
- You may also assist with the delivery of the existing volunteer programme, leading practical conservation tasks to enhance the biodiversity and species count within the borough and working alongside other stakeholders to deliver these, both our regular volunteer groups and also corporate groups.
- During the winter months you may assist with the Winter Works Programme (WWP) to deliver major clearance and tree felling in line with the management plans for each site. You will have passion and knowledge relating to the wildlife within the sites and will make up part of the Countryside Team, encouraging your peers as you strive to create an enhanced conservation visitor attraction, but also to collaborate with the wider Lampton business.
- You must have a good understanding of the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981 and comply with all legislation relating to this. You may assist with the Environmental Education Programme when needed, especially with the seasonal events such as Christmas Grotto and Halloween walk.
