Clinical practice Provide a first point of contact for patients presenting with undifferentiated, undiagnosed problems by utilising history taking, physical examination and clinical decision-making skills to establish a working diagnosis and management plan in partnership with the patient. Deliver clinical care according to NSF, NICE guidelines and evidence-based care Support the completion on clinical workflow
- laboratory reports, on-line consultations, referrals and clinical documentation as advised. Direct referrals appropriately and within locally agreed pathways, guidance and protocols Liaise closely with the GP in determining prescribing needs. Delivering a quality service Ensure effective communication skills and be able to advise and provide information to patients, carers and their families where appropriate.
Keep up to date with NHS Statutory and Mandatory e-training modules and complete refresher training as stipulated by NHS England. Prioritise tasks for the team and provide regular follow up and support Be a key contact for newly qualified PAs, being involved in clinical supervision and with scope for further teaching and mentoring as the role progresses Communication Work effectively as a team member, supporting and communicating with other professional colleagues and clinicians. Use critical thinking and effective communication skills to holistically assess patientsneeds and determine relevant culture, social, economic factors in a respectful and non-judgemental manner Utilise interpreter services, communication aids and other resources, to address barriers to communication and understanding. Learning and development Ensure continuing education, training and development is undertaken to meet clinical governance guidelines for Continuing Professional Development and meeting requirements as set out by the Faculty of Physician Associates Regularly reflect on own practice in order to identify learning needs and encourage self-directed lifelong learning and continued professional development in accordance with the FPA guidance.
