We are currently looking for Assessment and Placement Caseworker to work in Newham within the Social Care Setting. The postholder will esponsible for the administration and correspondence related to assessments, statements and placement (statutory and non statutory)of children and young people with complex SEN including those with statements, EHC plans, tribunals and High Needs funding.
**Key Responsibilities**:

- To be the first point of contact for communication with families, setting and schools regarding assessments and placements of children with SEN.
- To follow key processes which support, maintain and enhance the standing of the authority in respect of the delivery of services for SEN.
- To ensure that communication is positive, effective and efficient and to show initiate in communication.
- To ensure that deadlines are met for the completion of assessments and transfer of information.
- To issue accurate correspondence to families particularly in relation to statutory correspondence.
- To prepare new, amended and updated statements/Education Health Care plans for signature by named officers within the LA.
- To ensure that all review papers are processed in accordance with statutory as well as internal and financial processes.
- To ensure that any proposed changes to placements are communicated to finance staff in line with agreed procedures so that funding for pupils meets group objectives and that resource are used efficiently.
- To make an active contribution to improving/maintaining the council's use of assessment rating, performance management and promotion of corporate efficiency reviews.
- To take responsibility for undertaking appropriate development work as required in response to changing regimes, new government legislation and initiatives.
- To undertake any other duties that are in line with the purpose & grade of the post as may be required from time to time.
