- Job description- Do you want to be at the forefront of the fight against climate change helping our communities adapt and become more resilient to the threat posed by increased flooding? If so, this vacancy may be for you.
We’re looking for an ambitious, driven and highly motivated individual to join the West Midlands Programme Team as a Flood and Coastal Risk Management (FCRM) Officer.
Our workload varies day to day, but you can frequently expect to be involved in:

- Collaboration with internal teams and partner organisations in order to deliver schemes that help to reduce flood risk throughout the area.
- Gathering and interpreting data from a range of sources to review and report on project performance ensuring that our targets are met.
- Assisting with the preparation of documentation for Regional Flood and Coastal Committee / Sub Committee Meetings as required.
- Leading and supporting on other (non-financial) elements of the FCRM Programme e.g., Carbon, Sustainability and Efficiencies.

Responding to incidents is a central part of what we do. As such, you will also be required to have an incident role and make yourself available to respond to incidents or provide business continuity support during an incident. This may attract an additional payment and full training and alternative working arrangements will be available to support you with your incident role.
- The team- Our team supports the delivery of the government’s FCRM 6-year capital programme which aims to better protect 336,000 homes from flooding by March 2027. Working flexibly, we provide a variety of services depending on the specific needs of our customers and partners ensuring that all funding raised is invested wisely in order to achieve the maximum outcomes possible.
- Experience/skills required Prioritise tasks and deliver work to tight deadlines.
- Produce high-quality written reports conveying complex messages in a clear and concise manner to a variety of audiences.
- Use a number of MS Office programmes, in particular Excel. Experience of working with large sets of data would also be advantageous.
- Develop and maintain good working relationships across organisations.
- Be an integral part of a dispersed team with a passion for helping others to perform to the best of their ability.
- Contact and additional information- This post can be based in any office throughout the West Midlands. Regular travel across the whole of the catchment may be necessary on occasion. Therefore, a valid UK driving licence is required.
