Supporting a 17 year old boy with Cerebral Palsy, Epilepsy and other associated medical conditions at home in family environment;
Support in all aspects of daily life and deliver a complex regime of medical care

Provide an outstanding level of care to meet personal, social, medical and where necessary educational needs

Support and develop emotional wellbeing

Carry out complex medical care including Gastrostomy Feeds/Medication, Stoma Care, Mitrofanoff Catheterisations and bladder care

Monitor Epilepsy closely, recording changes and making decisions on emergency medication if the situation arises

Be prepared to fully support with all personal care needs in a way that ensures dignity is paramount at all times.

Manage and monitor fluid and dietary requirements as per feed/nutrition plan including preparing and cooking simple meals

Plan, resource, organise and deliver educational and play activities in line with developmental stage

Plan, support and facilitate community based activities

Support at home based appointments and hospital appointments

Observe Therapy Professionals and implement and reinforce therapy programme activities - speech, physio and OT therapist in a fun and innovative way, including daily stretch programmes

Follow plans of postoperative care

Follow detailed Care Plans and keep accurate records of care regime and report on changes noted

Be responsible for safety and vulnerability ensuring risk is managed

Drive mobility vehicle in a safe, confident and competent manner to required location

Provide unsupervised waking night care to manage overnight care needs

Make informed decisions based on training to manage complications and changes as they occur

Manage emergency situations including administration of emergency medication

Draw up and administer Medication as per medication plan, record medication administered and be accountable for this

Monitor medication and other medical supplies and order as required

Provide up to date information to staff when shifts change over and record details of the shift in the care plan

Keep up to date with needs by reading the latest medical reports, attending training and discussion with family

THIS POSITION IS TO WORK SPLIT SHIFTS MONDAY TO FRIDAY 07.00AM - 10.30AM & 14.30PM - 19.00 PLEASE DO NOT APPLY IF YOU DO NOT HAVE THIS AVAILABILITY

ADDITIONAL SHIFTS AND OVERTIME ARE ALSO AVAILABLE

Manage all of the above across multiple environments as the need arises

Be a kind and caring companion at all times

Pay: £12.00-£15.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
