Groom/stable Hand

This role is ideally suited to someone who has an interest in caring for horses needs and working within a brilliant, close-knit team. The post-holder will be required to work independently after their initial training and induction period taking responsibility for ensuring the horses needs are met. Team currently work a pattern to look after the horses every day, but this role could be suitable for someone wanting weekend work.

Our young people have learning difficulties but excel within the environment of the stables and when following the outstanding programme written by our head of our equine department. It is a small, but growing, team at the centre of our work at The Forum School.

The Forum School School has a proud and successful tradition of supporting children and young people between the ages of 7 - 19 with Autistic Spectrum Conditions and associated needs, to gain valuable life skills, qualifications and confidence to support their onward journey towards independence.

The role is all about providing support to the font-line team by being a reliable presence in the stables covering time when 1 of the team are off shift. We provide training and support so a keen interest in horses and their care, along with a committed and reliable approach to work are what is required to be successful in this role.

Could you:

- Support the delivery of Equine Therapy sessions by taking responsibility for caring for the horses under the guidance of our Equine Lead
- Take responsibility for looking after the stables when other team are off-shift
- Build relationships with the equine team and wider team at The Forum School
- To maintain the health and wellbeing of the horses
- General stable duties i.e. mucking out, feeding, grooming and equine first aid
