Director for Carbon Accounting

- Play an integral role in helping them fulfill their Net Zero by 2030 pledge.
**KEY SKILLS / EXPERIENCE REQUIRED**:
- Demonstrable expertise in carbon accountancy.
- A strong understanding of standards and practices for assessing Scope 1-3 emissions (especially the GHG protocol standard).
- 3+ years' experience operating in an environmental / sustainability focused capacity.
- Comfortable working in a data intensive environment, with skills in SQL, API querying, bringing together multiple sources into useful databases, etc.
- Bonus points for food sector experience, although this is by no means a hard requirement.
**ROLE & COMPANY OVERVIEW**:
This is a brand new role created by one of the world's largest food companies, whose services reach thousands of locations and billions of people globally. Along with their own pledge to hit Net Zero by 2030, their aim is also to established and promotebest practice across the sector, and therefore make a genuinely positive impact on the future of our food sector across the board.
Joining a small sustainability-dedicated team, this will be a critical role tasked with taking ownership of this company's Carbon Accounting activities. Managing a small team of analysts, this is an opportunity to get involved in building something fromthe early stages... whilst thousands of data points already exist, you will be joining as they begin their journey of actually collating and managing this data in a useful fashion.
Spearheading this process, your ultimate aim will be to create robust, scalable and repeatable processes for carbon accounting. This will include measuring scope 1-3 footprints, and working towards improving these in a tangible fashion.
Looking at the bigger picture, the ambition is to become a trailblazer for best practice when it comes to sustainability in the food sector. Whilst sitting in the UK & Ireland team, these practices will then be shared and implemented across the businessglobally, as well as being promoted into the wider food domain in order to inspire positive change across the sector as a whole
You will need to possess significant experience working across the environmental and sustainability domain (at least 3 years), and the passion / gravitas / confidence to be able to lead change on a large scale, influencing stakeholders and suppliers to comealong on the journey as you go.
