**Working hours**: Monday - Thursday 8.30am to 5.00pm, Friday 8.30am to 2.00pm (37.5 hours per week)

Main duties and responsibilities
Allocate supplier shipments to optimum routes and transport modes based on cost, transit time and product type.
Monitor information received from freight forward partners to identify risks including bottle necks and poor performance.
Highlight risks and opportunities to the Purchasing and Warehouse Teams to ensure timely decisions are made.
Drive efficiencies to improve transportation methods to deliver cost, quality, and delivery benefits.
Attend weekly meetings to agree delivery schedules for all sites and follow through until delivered.
Monitor and challenges transit time variations.
Be aware of local, national and international risks and take action to mitigate them.
Manage costs through negotiating new rates.
Be aware of market trends.
Ensure our freight forwarders are adding value to our business.
Identify risks of quay rent and demurrage charges and liaise with Warehouse and Purchasing teams to mitigate.
Ensure invoices are correct and approved in time to meet payment terms.
Manage all paperwork and documentation associated with all freight movements.
Ensure HMRC import / export compliance including keeping the business compliant with all regulatory requirements.
Prepare instructions for customs declarations to send to freight forwarders and their agent to declare relevant Tariff’s, Values etc.
Follow up and keep record of customs entries and checking against correct values in line with HMRC Import / Export compliance, challenge and recover incorrect payments as and well identified.
Monitor our use of commodity codes to ensure they remain current and accurate.
Produce reports on a regular basis for Senior Management
Liaise with suppliers to prepare documentation for import declarations and keep track of BOL, Commercial Invoices, Packing Lists etc
Manage local subcontractors and other freight forwarders.
Using Microsoft Excel and internal systems to keep In Transit reports up to date for all internal stakeholders.
Highlight significant changes to internal team members.
Devise and enhance systems and processes to track inbound flows of goods.
Utilize other team members and external suppliers/ freight forwarders to remove additional tasks and streamline processes.
Offer solutions to internal stakeholders to resolve out of stock risks.
Understand and adhere to all company policies and procedures relevant to the role.
Any other reasonable duties which may be required by management from time to time.
Essential requirements
Minimum of 2 years’ recent logistics experience in a similar role
Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office packages, in particular Excel
Excellent planning and organisational skills
Excellent communication skills
Ability to work to tight deadlines
Accurate with excellent attention to detail
Ability to work on own initiative without supervision
Desirable requirements
Experience gained in import background
Knowledge of HMRC import/export regulations
Previous experience working within a FMCG or manufacturing environment
Experience in Microsoft Navision
Experience of negotiating
Proven ability to solve problems
