Job Title:
Residential/Support Worker
Responsible to:
Registered Manager
**Job Overview**:
- To provide care in accordance with best practice and legislative requirements, reflecting policies and procedures and agreed standards under the direction of the service management.
- To be reportable to the Registered Manager and Team Leaders/Seniors in the delivery of the above aspects.
- To support and enable young people in our care to maintain skills and personal interests whilst delivering person-centred care unique to them.
- To take responsibility for the shift and lead others, having oversight of their needs.
- To support young people in our care in maintaining their placement.
- To maintain skills at a current level, undertake such training and development as required from time-to-time to maintain and progress knowledge.
**Location**:
- Basildon (Essex)
**Hours of work**:
- 40-Hours per week, over a 7-day shift pattern covering 4/5 shifts; sleeping-in between late and early shifts; and some 1-1 hours cover to make up contracted hours.
**Role specific Duties**:
- The employee's work will be alone with the young people in our care in a supported living environment. Compassion, good communication skills and a calm and caring manner are essential for this important role.
- Ensure the young people in our care are at the centre, heart of care delivery and their wishes and preferences enhance their wellbeing.
- Support the young people in our care with all aspects of their day-to-day living, enabling them to enjoy and achieve the best possible quality of life.
- Act in the best interest of the young people in our care when it is assessed that they lack the capacity to make decisions for themselves.
- Ensure the delivery of 1:1 support in accordance with an individual young person’s Care and Support Plan and ensure accurate recording.
- Ensure that the 1:1 key work recording are done and recorded.
- Ensure Care Plans and other information about how to support are followed.
- Be responsible for informing the Registered Manager and/or Responsible person about any changes in the needs of the young people.
- Ensure the health, welfare and safeguarding of all individuals (young people, staff, and visitors) in line with our policies and procedures.
- Ensure the health, welfare and safeguarding of all individuals (young people in our care, staff, and visitors) in line with health & safety and fire safety procedures.
- Keep and maintain effective communications both verbally and in writing. This will include written reports and detailed records.
- Ensure that health and safety policies are followed.
- Document any identified risk and report them immediately.
**Working with others**:
- Develop effective working relationships with other employees.
- Work in cooperation with members of the multi-disciplinary teams to maximise opportunities for people.
- If desired by the young people in our care, maintain and develop relationships with family, friends, and other people important in their life.
**Leading by Example**:
- Seek opportunities for personal and professional growth.
- Be a role model for other Support Workers and be an ambassador for the service. Be professional, polite, and reasonable at all times.
**Personal Responsibilities**:
- Commit to achieving the relevant qualifications commensurate with the role.
- Attend statutory training and any other training as directed by management.
- Understand and follow all policies and procedures relevant to the role.
- Be open to learning opportunities and undertake additional training to meet the specific needs of the young people in our care.
- Take personal responsibility for engaging in supervision, personal development, and training to enhance best practice.
- Keep up to date with policies and procedures.
