Night Porter

**The Exciting Opportunity**

The position of full time Night Porter has become available at the Worcester Whitehouse Hotel, Worcester WR1 1EA. Reporting into the Night Manager, working 37.5 hours per week, 5 nights over 7 you will be responsible for assisting in the operation of the hotel between the hours of 11.00pm - 7.00am. You will be required to give quality service, both to customers and colleagues, to provide and maintain efficient portering, reception and room service at night, together with the responsibility of fire checks and security inspections, according to the specified standards of the hotel and department adhering to company and statuary regulations.

Previous hotel experience is desirable.

**What will I be doing?**

As the Night Porter you will be responsible for performing the following tasks to the highest standards;
Have a full operational knowledge of the services offered by the night porters, as well as other services and facilities available in the hotel. Be aware of procedure to call emergency medical assistance (e.g. hotel doctor, ambulance etc.), as well as details of utility and special services (e.g. gas main, fuse boxes, lift engineers).

Welcome late arrival guests, deal with check-in arrangements, help with luggage, explain bedroom facilities and promote the hotel’s services and products.

Handle chance bookings/enquiries, accept advanced payments - promoting additional sales whenever practical.

Issue and maintain security of room keys, deal with messages and provide information and assistance for guests.

Accept, prepare and serve food and beverage orders to guests in public areas and bedrooms. Complete the required bills/documentation.

Prepare and service meeting rooms, clean public areas/toilets/cloakrooms.

Accept, record and handle wake-up calls, prepare and serve early morning continental breakfast and receive and distribute guest newspapers.

Deal with early morning departures, preparing bills/accounts. Accepting cash/credit payments effectively and securely.

Carry out regular/frequent night fire inspections of the complete building - public and service areas. Maintain a high level of security and deal with unwelcome customers and persons acting strangely.

Implement designated procedures immediately in the event of a fire or other emergency. Advise Night Manager/Guest Relations Manager/General Manager as instructed.

**Where Will You Be Working?**

The Worcester Whitehouse Hotel is considered the premier hotel found right in the heart of the historic city centre of Worcester; located opposite Foregate Street Station, within walking distance of the shops, bars and central attractions close to the beautiful Worcester Cathedral, River Severn, the county cricket ground and race course. It is near the Malvern Hills and the Cotswolds and with easy access from junctions 6 and 7 of the M5.

There are 84 en-suite bedrooms, 50 seat brasserie, conference and event facilities for up to 120 delegates and a leisure club with indoor pool, sauna, steam room, whirl pool and fully equipped gymnasium

**Schedule**

Working 8 hours between 11.00pm - 7.00pm with a 30 minute break, to include weekends and bank holidays
