Temporary Works Officer

**Duties and responsibilities**
- Agree with the Designers/ Design Checkers and other Parties on the level of risk and the extent of the design check.
- Coordinate the production and issue of all Temporary Works files
- Working with the Contracts Manager to ensure that a detailed design brief has been produced, and forwarded to the designer for action.
- Advise the permanent works designer of any temporary conditions, or loads, that should be considered in the permanent works design, as a result of the Temporary Works.
- Ensure that a satisfactory Temporary Works design is carried out and included in the file.
- Where necessary ensure that the temporary works design is independently checked for concept, structural adequacy and compliance with the brief and included in the file.
- Record the drawings, calculations and other relevant documents relating to the final design and endure these are included within the file.
- Ensure temporary works documentation is adequately maintained within the QMS systems.
- Ensure that those responsible for on-site supervision receive full design details within the Temporary Works file
- Ensure that any proposed changes in materials or construction are checked against the original design and any appropriate action are recovered.
- Mentor junior members of staff and new starters to bring them up to speed with the Temporary Works process.
- Implement the current B&FM Temporary Works (Temporary Works) procedure up to and including the production of the Temporary Works file.
- Manage amendments/changes to TW requirements on site ensuring these assist to compile the Temporary Works design briefs working with the Contract Manager.
- Liaising with the designer and construction team to provide feedback on the Temporary Works issues/concerns.
- Develop and maintain a library of Temporary Works standard solutions
- Ensure Temporary Works requirements are identified sufficiently in advance of work commencing on site and recorded appropriately as part of the Temporary Works file
- Ensure responsibility for design and independent checking of design is allocated and accepted and that a satisfactory brief is established for each separate design to enable all Temporary Works to be co-ordinated.
- Ensure appropriate procedures are applied to control and manage changed requirements for Temporary Works inclusive of re-design and independent checking prior to use.
- Monitor each project’s Temporary Works process through targeted audits up to and including the production of the TW file.
- Regular site visits are required to expand knowledge and understanding. This will extend to assisting with Temporary Works inspections, reviewing designs against installations and the checking of onsite documentation.
- Manage costs associated with the design and checking process and help ensure designs are cost effective and costs are set out and forwarded to the QS/Estimator for inclusion in the valuation/final account.

- Admin experience
- A team with over 20 years Administration Public Sector/Trades/Built Environment/Construction Recruitment experience
