Our young people may also experience difficulties with learning as a result of the effects of trauma, disrupted educational experiences and multiple residential placements.
Our school is located in a beautiful rural setting near Banff, Aberdeenshire, and is situated within 42 acres of woodlands which enables us to provide unique learning experiences in a safe, positive and nurturing environment. Our naturally therapeutic environment provides the ideal physical surroundings for young people to access compensatory experiences and alternative learning opportunities which form part of their Individual education and care plans. The aim of Troup House School is to take an inclusive approach to ensuring the best experiences and outcomes for our young people by supporting them to achieve the best possible social, academic and vocational outcomes.
Our service provision also includes an off-site 2 bed cottage which is located in the town of Inverurie, approximately 36 miles away. This service supports young people through care packages of support that prepare them for independent living.
At Aspris Children’s Services, we are immensely proud of the career pathway and training we can offer you. As long as you can demonstrate the values needed for a role within residential childcare, we will give you all the training and support you need to become a qualified Waking Night Support Worker.
Experience isn’t always essential but there are a few characteristics you will need to be successful in this role:
**Resilience **- We support some of the most vulnerable children in society who have varying degrees of emotional behavioural difficulties, autism, ADHD and associated difficulties so there will be times where your resilience is challenged.
**Communication **- Communicating with our young people is vital to understand their needs. Good teamwork and communication plays a key part in ensuring important information is relayed to other staff.
**Organisation **- You’ll need to be confident and organised in updating care plans and reporting information that will be relevant to the care of our young people.
**Caring **- Our young people require the best care we can offer. If you are a naturally caring and compassionate person, this is the role for you.
**Attentive **- No young person / situation is the same so being attentive to understand them and identify areas where we can support is important and alert within any situation.
Above all, we provide a supportive and collaborative working environment where you can flourish in your career and feel incredibly rewarded by helping those who need it most.
