**WHAT TO EXPECT**
The Dimensional Systems department are looking for a Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) Inspector to join their team of measurement specialists at JLR Castle Bromwich. If you have a keen eye for detail, positive drive for creating high quality and efficient measurement programs, who enjoys working in a team to solve problems, whilst operating in a highly demanding environment, then this may be the role for you.
The Dimensional Systems team are a key part in realising our Modern Luxury design, we deliver a world class fit and finish that our discerning customers have come to expect from JLR. All elements of Dimensional Quality are within our remit, whether it be assessing feasibility of product design and processes, conducting Dimensional Variation Analysis (DVA), defining and delivering the Measurement and Metrology strategy, or quality Maturation of new vehicles throughout a product launch.
**Key Responsibilities**
- Write and virtually validate CMM inspection programs for JLR's pilot builds in DMIS language (CAMIO 8.5)
- Update and maintain programs with record of revision changes, change control process (LRR/MCR)
- Investigate program related issues and assist in resolving metrology concerns
- Maintain change control trackers, revision levels and program folder contents on top of releasing newly completed programs to intended plant CMM areas
- Generate updated nominal CSV files for delivery to our customers
- Assist in hosting reviews of measurement plans as well as resolving Concerns & Countermeasures Action Report (CCAR) issues raised by the Pilot Plant CMM team
- Support measurement planning activities and investigations for all new models and ensure that manufacturing plants have CMM programs written and validated for BIW measurements
**WHAT YOU-LL NEED**
**Essential**
- Completion of an Engineering Apprenticeship (or a Level 3 NVQ, BTEC, OCR or a National Diploma)
- Strong experience in using specialist metrology software such as LK Camio and Polyworks
- Substantial metrology and first-principle measurement experience
- The ability to write and run CMM programs in Dimensional Measurement Interface Specification (DMIS) language
- Project and resource management skills and the ability to work to a deadline
- Strong understanding of various alignment strategies, co-ordinate systems
- Understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)
- Locator and measurement point selection knowledge
- Excellent communication skills and confidence in being able present to an audience
- Computer literate including Microsoft Office
**Desirable**
- Automotive background - with understanding of Manufacturing Processes (ideally Body-in-White and General Assembly)
- Degree / Higher National Certificate / Diploma in relevant Engineering discipline
- Understanding of part/assembly Location Strategy Principals
- CAD Skills using CATIA V6/3D Experience
- Awareness of optical measurement strategies such as photogrammetry and scanning
