**Job Description**:
This strategic role requires an experienced direct tax professional to lead the direct tax team for the Visa’s European entities. The role requires the ability to engage with senior stakeholders and non-tax teams at all levels, lead and manage a team. Extensive experience of working in house on direct tax reporting, compliance and advisory matters is essential. In this role, you will report to Visa Europe Head of Tax, and you will support the Visa Europe Head of Tax by providing overall management of the direct tax affairs of Visa's European entities. Visa Europe pays around Euro 600m per annum in corporate taxes.

**Responsibilities**:
**Reporting and Compliance**
- Managing, in conjunction with the HQ Transfer Pricing Team (TP), the annual review of TP documentation requirements, functional analyses and margin reviews for entities across the region.
- Review of US GAAP reporting submissions relating to European entities.
- Managing our outsource tax compliance account, working in partnership with our external outsource provider, EY. This account is worth in the region of USD1.2m per year.
- Primary responsibility for managing Visa Europe Tax’s relationship with Controllership in relation to non-UK entities to ensure clear understanding of key accounting changes and any implications for reporting, deferred taxes and cash payments.
- Embedding process changes required to respond to new legislative changes across Europe such as Digital Services Tax to manage risk across the entire Visa’s entire European footprint.
- Identifying opportunities to optimize the use of tax reliefs available to the group such as Research and Development credits and capital allowances in order to generate cash flow savings to Visa Europe as a whole.
- Leading Visa Europe’s response to tax audits across our European footprint including managing our relationship with overseas advisors and lawyers. The tax potentially at stake in relation to such audits is in excess of USD10m and professional fees are in the region of USD500k per annum.

**Business advisory**
- Engaging with senior stakeholders at the EFLT level and above in the provision of tax advice to the Visa Europe business across the European footprint in order to manage CIT tax risk and maximise cash flow opportunities. This includes, inter alia, new business ventures which have a multi-million value such as VIK.
- Building and managing key stakeholder relationship with Corporate Treasury in the UK and US to ensure effective management of dividend flows, cash repatriation, capital adequacy requirements, capital contributions, loan financing and other new initiatives.
- Working in partnership with CoSec and Legal to manage any changes to the corporate structure and operations in Europe.
- Partnering with the US HQ Transfer pricing team to effectively manage new European transfer pricing initiatives.
- Providing Tax support to the European CFO and Visa Inc. Head of Tax on acquisitions and joint ventures across the regional footprint.
- Providing strategic advice to senior stakeholders at the EFLT level and above on changes to international tax legislation which can have a material effect on Visa Europe’s profit margins.
- Working in partnership with the European VAT team to effectively horizon scan and identify new business activities with direct tax implications.

**Other**
- Leading Visa Europe’s relationship with external tax service providers to ensure optimal value for money is derived from these relationships.
- Line management of the direct tax team (2 individuals at present, to increase over the course of time).
