**Summary**:
The Defence Digital Foundry is revolutionising how the Ministry of Defence (MoD) delivers platforms and digital services to users. We need capable senior Service Owners to be part of our growing team. In this role, you will lead the operation and continuous improvement of Digital Foundry's data services.
The Defence Digital Foundry is a new alliance of digital teams in the MoD. The Foundry will deliver digital services that help people in defence get things done - from the warfighter to the back office - and also provide enabling tools and platforms that allow other digital teams to deliver their services faster and better.
The Foundry will pioneer new ways to exploit Defence's data with the digital teams of the Royal Navy, British Army and Royal Air Force and from other groups in MoD. Data exploitation includes data analytics, machine learning, Artificial Intelligence and other game-changing technologies to ensure the UK keeps up with our allies and stays ahead of threats in an era of ongoing competition and disruptive technology.
**Job description**:
You'll be taking on an exciting and demanding role, working alongside military and civilian personnel to make a real difference for defence users, solving critical problems in managing the UK's defence, and successfully executing 21st-century military operations.
As a Service Owner, you are accountable for the quality of the Foundry’s data services. You will be expected to operate at scale and provide the connection between multidisciplinary business areas and stakeholders.
You will:
- Ensure the necessary business processes and practices are followed
- Participate in the governance and security of the service
- Act as a point of escalation for the delivery teams
- Own the budget and allocate funding to areas of the service based on your decisions about priorities
- Communicate the benefits and performance of your service
- Be responsible for the successful operation and continuous improvement of the service.

This job role is suitable for hybrid working, an informal, non-contractual and voluntary arrangement, blending a balance of attendance in the workplace (your permanent duty station) and working from home as a personal choice. If you are successful, any opportunities for hybrid working will be discussed with you before you take up your post.
**Responsibilities**:
- You will lead the operation and continuous improvement of Foundry's data services
- You will lead and manage the delivery of the Foundry's "Defence Data and Analytics Platform", which achieved closed Beta in October 2021
- You will lead on direction-setting and growth for the Foundry's future data services, including data management, data exploitation and data publishing
- You will liaise closely with the Chief Data Office on the implementation of data governance and controls
- You will liaise closely with the Defence AI Centre, Front Line Commands and other TLBs to enable data exploitation use cases
- You will contribute to the development of the Data community of practice across defence and contribute to best practice and learning across digital delivery teams
- You will support the Head of Platform Services and deputise for them as necessary on data platform matters
- You will be a member of the Digital Foundry Senior Leadership Team, helping to drive forward the broader development of the Digital Foundry and make it a success
