Are you an enthusiastic nurse who has experience with nursing patients with stomas? Are you ready to take the next step in your career to a band 7 level as a Case Holder in stoma care? An exciting has arisen to join the Stoma team based at the Royal Derby Hospital.

As core members of the Colorectal Multi-Disciplinary Team, the Stoma Nurses are committed to working within the framework of the National Cancer Service Guidelines.

The post holder will be responsible for delivering pre and post operative care for patients undergoing life changing surgery whether that be temporary or permanent. The post holder will need to travel to undertake visits to patients in their own homes, on wards and in clinic settings, therefore being a car owner and driver is essential.

To initiate contact with patients prior to Stoma surgery in Acute and Primary settings in order that the patients receive support, information and holistic management of care. Thus ensuring a smooth transition from Acute to Primary Care.

To provide and maintain an effective patient service which includes both the physical and psychological aspects of care following Stoma surgery, so that patients are supported throughout their recovery period.To work with patients and their families in regard to on-going care, within agreed protocol so that patients are encouraged towards an independent life-style.
