**Job description**

Do you want to play a direct part in tackling the climate and nature emergencies and ensuring that the natural resources of Wales are managed sustainably? This is an exciting opportunity to be part of the small, dynamic team that is creating new public woodlands in Wales.

You will lead in identifying, planning and planting new woodlands. You will project manage acquisitions of land to expand woodland, ensuring that the new woodlands establish effectively. This will involve using your knowledge and skills to make decisions on species choice and establishment techniques to develop healthy and resilient woodlands. You will be directly responsible for liaising with external stakeholders, procuring and managing contracts and caring for sites until establishment.

These new woodlands will become part of the Natural Resources Wales (NRW) managed Estate, there for the people of Wales to enjoy in perpetuity.

**Knowledge and experience of the following**:
Working in a programme and project management environment with project management skills and experience (Essential).

Experience of technical analysis and interpretation of a range of complex environmental information and data sources; analysing large data sets (Essential).

Working with/in Welsh Government, across the forestry sector and/or other land management organisations. (Essential).

You will be a member of a relevant professional institution and/or working towards membership (Desirable).

Knowledge of: Welsh, UK and EU legislation related to forestry; Welsh, UK Government policy drivers in forestry
