Catering Assistant

**Salary**:Level 2 Point 4

**Hours**:Monday - Friday 11.15 am - 2.00 pm - term time

**Responsible to**: Manager, Special Support Assistants

**Role of Kingsdown School**:
Kingsdown School provides education for pupils aged 3 - 14 years who have severe learning difficulties, profound and multiple learning difficulties and /or physical disabilities and associated learning difficulties. The central aim of the school is to enable every child to reach their maximum potential.

**Main Purpose of the Job**:
To assist with all aspects of the transportation, preparation and serving of food and beverages to the standards required by the school.

**Main Duties and Responsibilities**:

- Unpacking meals from lunch provider
- Serving at the counter/hatch or from a trolley as required
- To undertake all aspects of cleaning equipment e.g. fittings, cooking utensils, cutlery, glassware etc. as directed
- During service times, to ensure that tables and counters are as clean as reasonably practicable and adequately stocked
- To maintain a high standard of personal and general cleanliness and hygiene to comply with statutory and school regulations
- To complete all necessary paperwork required by statutory and school regulations
- To attend training activities and/or meetings as required
- Occasionally, to assist with special functions at the school which may be outside of normal working hours
- To report any customer complaints or comments and take any necessary remedial action if appropriate
- Report immediately any accidents, fire, theft, loss, damage, unfit food or other irregularities and take such action as may be appropriate or possible
- Such other duties related to the catering service as may be necessary from time to time within the reasonable requirements of the Headteacher and Governing Body.

The duties may be varied to meet the changing demands of the school at the reasonable discretion of the Head Teacher.
