- UKCEH is looking for an experienced Net Zero Project Specialist to join our 600-strong team, contributing to scientific discovery and generating the data, insights and solutions that researchers, businesses and governments need to solve complex environmental challenges.

You’ll be joining our growing
- Soils and Land Use
Science Area, delivering Net Zero research and demonstration projects in collaboration with academic, industry and policy partners.

You’ll be supporting the delivery of exciting projects and proposals funded by UKRI, UK government and industry, assisting project leads and managers to help coordinate and deliver complex, multi-organisation science projects.

Initially you will support projects in the Plant-Soil Interactions group, which focuses on the role of soils, land and sustainable agriculture in delivering climate mitigation and greenhouse gas removals. In addition, you’ll also support funding proposals across the team.

Your main responsibilities will include:
- Assisting with the delivery of large multi-partner Net Zero projects, including managing your own projects.-
- Planning, reviewing, and monitoring of project schedules, resource allocations, spending, deliverables and dependencies.-
- Conducting project finance activities for UKCEH and sub-contractors, such as budget revisions, extracting & analysing financial and activity data.-
- Managing project risks and issues, working collaboratively to mitigate and resolve them.-
- Organising and running conferences, workshops and meetings, working with project teams, funders and stakeholders. This will include event design, managing participants; and disseminating outputs.- The main project you’ll be working on is Biomass Connect, follow the links to find out more
For the role of Net Zero Project Specialist, we’re looking for somebody who has/is:
- Knowledge of project management methodologies and techniques-
- Effective management skills of self and team, managing activities and priorities to meet project deadlines, and can work independently with the confidence to escalate issues where appropriate-
