**Engineering Cell Technician**

Working within the engineering department at Abercarn, Wales, with the key responsibility for providing a pro-active, innovative performance and reliability focused engineering service to the Site’s Operations Team. A role model promoting Health & Safetycommitment and vision statement. Hands on team leading role of the Shift team, providing additional support & shift engineer cover and supporting the shift engineers with Health & Safety and continuous improvement project completion. The role is focused uponincreasing the levels of machine availability, efficiency, reliability, safety and quality standards. It also involves covering for the Engineering Manager as required. The individual will be responsible for providing effective short and long term solutionsto continuously improve machine reliability and therefore actively contributing as part of the engineering team to achieve business targets and key performance criteria.

Main Duties:

- Work in a collaborative style with the Engineering, Conversion, Corrugator and Despatch departments.
- Working alongside the shift Engineers driving SAP usage, reporting, adherence and communicating all outstanding actions across the Engineering and Production teams.
- Assist in the support and development of the engineering preventative maintenance strategy to improve health and safety, guarantee quality, reduce waste, optimise productivity and improve MTBF whilst reducing MTTR.
- Develop, plan and promote continuous improvement programs, CM, Lean, 5s, CIL & 8D, SMED, OS5.
- Implement and endorse preventative / predictive maintenance systems, tools and ideas (SAP PM).
- Adherence to the booking out of and reordering of engineering spares.
- Manage and schedule OEM visits with shift manager.
- Working with the Engineering Manager to schedule mechanical & electrical engineering activities.
- Day to day involvement in the scheduling of all mechanical & electrical engineering activities and provide support/coaching for the shift engineers.
- Manage and prioritise own workload.
- Key stakeholder within the corrugator/conversion improvement plans.
- Roll out training of new initiatives to both engineers and operators.
- Develop engineering, corrugator and process knowledge through the OS manuals.
- Any other tasks requested by your line manager within your capabilities.
- Cover shifts to facilitate additional Engineering training.
- Work with Engineer Manager providing support/coaching and development plans for shift engineers incorporating monthly 1:1 with the shift Engineers.
- Stand in for the Engineering Manager when required.
- Good communicator with the ability to listen to all parties, internal & external
- Good literacy, numeracy and problem solving skills
- Accuracy and attention to detail
- Good level of IT skills & a good understanding of SAP PM

- motivated with good diagnostic skills
- Team player with the ability to work across departments and with shift engineers
- Understanding & experience of hydraulic systems
- Understanding & experience of pneumatic systems
- Understanding & experience of steam systems
- Experience of mechanical drive systems
- Determine seriousness of circumstances concerning machine reliability and refer to management when accordingly.
