An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Orthotics Team at North Tyneside General Hospital in a part time role, working 15 hours per week. The Orthotics service provides assessment, diagnosis and treatment to a diverse range of conditions and patient types, in a variety of environments. The successful post holder will assist in the effective delivery of Administrative Support to the Orthotics Department as part of the Admin Support Team.

The Orthotics Officer is employed to assist in the effective delivery of Administrative Support to the Orthotics Department as part of the Admin Support Team. The Orthotics service provides assessment, diagnosis and treatment to a diverse range of conditions and patient types, in a variety of environments. Orthotic management includes assessment for and prescription of an appropriate Orthotic device where appropriate, or advice on different treatment options where not appropriate to allow the patient to regain function following surgery, illness, injury, dysfunction or disease.

The post holder will provide a timely, coordinated, efficient and effective Orthotics Service to Trust and Community patients including management of Outpatient clinics to minimise waiting times and daily contact with contractor’s staff to ensure timely delivery of orthoses.

The post holder will regularly order and provide orthoses/prostheses via the Supplies Department in order to maximise value for money.

The post holder will be able to provide cover during annual leave and sickness absence Trust wide.

We manage three major locality hospitals at North Tyneside, Wansbeck and Hexham, plus a number of smaller community hospitals and clinics from Tynemouth to Berwick on Tweed, in addition to our state-of-the-art Northumbria Specialist Emergency Care Hospital, the first of its kind in England. - To provide a timely, co-ordinated, efficient and effective Orthotics Service to Trust and Community patients through management of Outpatient clinics to minimise waiting times, and daily contact with contractor’s staff to ensure timely delivery of orthoses.
- To provide orthoses/prostheses using direct ordering via Supplies Department on a daily basis in order to maximise value for money.
