We are looking for someone to join our fun team, to support children in self-serving their own lunch time meals and puddings, providing them with the appropriate equipment to do so. It is of most importance that children’s dietary needs such as allergies and religious requirements are always met, following colour codes and care plans. It is also important to ensure the Nursery Kitchen is kept to the highest of standards in regard to Environmental Health, Hygiene and food safety.
- To support a small team in providing a high standard of childcare for children aged between birth - 8 years within a stimulating and friendly environment, that is physically and emotionally secure and works in line with the Local Safeguarding Children Board and Department for Education’s guidance and policy in safeguarding children.
- To maintain, at all times, a high standard of professional conduct and a child centred approach to the care provided in accordance with: National Policies and Procedures as well as the Nurseries own Policies and Procedures, current legislation, the Early Years Foundation Stage, birth to three matters, registration requirements, Working Together to Safeguard Children, the Prevent Duty and other guidelines issued by Portsmouth City Council and Ofsted.
**Responsibilities**:
(1) Reflect the vision, mission, aims and values of the nursery.
(2) Dish up suitably balanced foods delivered by Hungry Monsters, taking into account dietary and cultural requirements of the children in line with the Nursery Manager's requirements.
(3) Preventing cross contamination of food within the kitchen area.
(4) The preparation and cooking of all foods in accordance with the daily snacks and for special functions.
(5) Ensuring that all foods are ready at the specified time and correctly served. Ensuring that the correct food is served to children with known allergies, as notified to you by the Nursery Manager.
(6) Making sure that all foods are covered prior to serving and during transportation to the rooms. Also ensuring that foods stored in the refrigerator are adequately covered and labelled.
(7) Ordering stock in line with requirements, keeping accounts and budget control. Maintaining correct stock levels, ensuring stock rotation and ensuring all stock is clearly labelled to include expiry dates.
(8) Monitoring and recording in writing the temperature of fridge and freezer on a daily basis. Working in line with Safer Food Better Business Manual.
(9) Temperatures of high-risk food must be recorded at time of delivery and cooking. All food must be stored and served at the temperatures required by the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health-Food Safety.
(10) Ensuring the kitchen and equipment is kept suitably clean at all times including walls, floors and trolleys to transport food following a cleaning schedule. On a daily basis that all crockery, cutlery and cooking utensils are washed and sterilised in accordance with food safety guidelines.
(11) Work with the Manager and other Child Care staff to establish a caring and happy environment for the children and ensure quality is maintained.
(12) Work with the Child Care staff team to implement Rainbow Corner Windleshams Policies and Procedures.
(13) Attend team meetings as required.
Position reliant on 2 satisfactory references and a DBS check.

**Salary**: £8,669.44-£10,000.00 per year
