We wish to appoint an enthusiastic and caring Early Years Teaching Assistant to support our classroom teachers in providing an environment conducive to learning and inclusive of all pupils, an interest in outdoor learning would be advantageous. The postholder will be required to supervise pupils and assist where appropriate to ensure that effective learning outcomes are achieved in addition to supporting the pastoral, social and welfare needs of pupils during their attendance at school.

The position will be based in our Pre-Prep, which will be worked across 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday, over 37 weeks per year. This position also has the option to provide after-school care for children aged 3 to 7 across 2 or 3 evenings per week (until 6pm), which attracts an increased salary payment.

**Responsible to**:
Head of the Nursery and Prep
- Prep for line management responsibilities and the Bursar & Chief Operating Officer, who has overall responsibility for support staff.

**Responsible for**:
Under the direction of the classroom teacher, providing an environment conducive to learning and inclusive of all pupils. Supervising pupils and assisting when appropriate to ensure effective learning outcomes are achieved. Supporting the pastoral, social and welfare needs of pupils during their attendance at school.

**Main Responsibilities**:
**SUPPORT FOR PUPILS**

1. Developing a positive and supportive relationship with all pupils.

2. Providing support for all pupils, helping them develop ownership of tasks and independent learning skills.

3. Ensuring the safety of all pupils at all times.

4. Setting high expectations for pupils at all times.

5. Providing feedback to pupils in relation to progress and achievement under the guidance of the class teacher.

6. Delivering high quality one-to-one and small group support through structured interventions, recording progress and giving feedback to the class teacher and/or the SENCo (as appropriate).

7. Ensuring all pupils can access learning activities including by adjusting delivery of the support provided to meet a pupil’s needs.

8. Helping the pupils make connections between learning in the classroom and structured interventions.

9. Assisting in collaboration with the class teacher and/or SENCo, with the implementation and review of Individual Pupil Profiles, Behaviour Plans and Personal Care Plans.

10. Supporting the use of ICT in learning activities and developing pupils’ competence and independence in its use.

**SUPPORT FOR THE TEACHING STAFF**

11. Demonstrating a sound knowledge and/or experience of the relevant curriculum/Key Stage.

12. Using strategies, in liaison with the class teacher, to support pupils to achieve learning objectives [Early Years Foundation Stage objectives - The Early Learning Goals].

14. Assisting with the planning of learning including helping with the preparation and setting up of learning activities (indoors and outdoors).

15. Monitoring pupils’ responses to learning activities and accurately record achievement/progress as directed.

16. Establishing constructive and positive relationships with parents/carers.

17. Collaborating with the class teacher, to carry out long and short observations.

18. In the role of key person, to support the development of a small group of pupils. This includes assisting with the pupils’ Interactive Learning Diaries and giving additional support where required.

19. Assisting in the preparation of learning materials and resources, as required.

20. Supporting the presentation of pupils’ work (inside and outside the classroom environment), as required.

**SUPPORT FOR THE SCHOOL**

21. Undertaking training and CPD, as required.

22. Appreciating and support the role of other professionals.

23. Attending and participating in relevant training, meetings and whole school events, as required.

24. Assisting with the supervision of pupils out of lesson times, including before and after school and at break time and lunch time, as required.

25. Accompanying teaching staff and pupils on visits, trips and out of school activities (as required) and to take responsibility for a group (under the wider supervision of the teacher).
