Community Midwife

StokeonTrent, United Kingdom University Hospitals of North Midlands NHS Trust Full time

A number of opportunities have arisen for dedicated and committed midwives to join the community midwifery team.

Community midwifery supports a wide geographical area. There are 5 community hubs based in community settings. Community midwives benefit from working within small, well-led teams. Each midwife has an allocated caseload and we maximise locality working by utilising children's centres, community hospitals and public buildings.

To maintain your intrapartum skills you will be supported to work on the Midwife Birth Centre for 1 shift each alternate week.

We are looking for midwives who already have a PIN number and are passionate about delivering high quality, safe care to women.

We have permanent contracts for enthusiastic midwives to provide antenatal, intrapartum and postnatal care.

You will need to be versatile and have excellent communication skills. Team working is an essential part of the role.

There is an expectation that the role will involve unsociable hours and on call.

The midwife will participate in high quality care for women and their families, also providing mentorship and professional support to enable students and maternity support workers to do the same.

As a rotational post the midwife will have the opportunity to gain experience and maintain skills within antenatal, intrapartum and postnatal care. There is also an expectation that the midwife will be involved in Continuity of Carer.

The midwife works autonomously within Trust guidelines and sphere of professional practice with reference to departmental manager as appropriate. The midwife will work within their sphere of practice in accordance with NMC codes of practice and professional guidelines.

University Hospitals of North Midlands NHS Trust is one of the largest and most modern in the country. We are the specialist centre for major trauma for the North Midlands and North Wales. We have put together a wide range of development packages aimed at ensuring that everyone has the opportunity to fulfil their potential. Our goal is to be a world-class centre of achievement, where patients receive the highest standards of care and the best people come to learn, work and research.
