Personal Assistant to Children

We are looking to recruit a Personal Assistant (on behalf of a family) to provide support with their child who has Autism. The Personal Assistant will need to work closely with the family and will be required to support the child either in the home or out in the Community to access relevant activities. The Personal Assistant will need to be a competent person whom is able to stay calm, collective and vigilant at all times.
A Personal Assistant works directly with one or more individuals to support them with various aspects of their daily life so that they can live it in a way they choose. You will be employed directly by the family of the person who needs care and support. Daily tasks could include help with communication, physical tasks, and taking the child out into the community to do activities. Experience with young children desirable. Previous work with disabilities an advantage but neither are necessary as additional training will be provided. Training will be given, if required, in areas such as Safeguarding, Health & Safety, Equal Opportunities, Manual Handling and Paediatric First Aid. A full enhanced DBS check will be required prior to starting with the family and will be provided.
As a Personal Assistant, you are likely to be involved in many aspects of your employers life and may be asked to support in the home, at leisure or at work. The opportunity to focus directly on the needs of the individual and the diversity of the role is what often attracts people to this type of work.
The family require 8 hours per week which could increase/change during school holidays but this will be lead according to the availability of the Personal Assistant. Working hours required are 2 hours after school on a Wednesday and 6 hours on a Sunday. Hourly rate of pay is £10.42 per hour.
Driver with own car is essential for this role to be able to transport child to and from activities.
