**LOCAL SCHOOL GOVERNORS - WEYMOUTH**

Ambitions Academies Trust is a successful Multi-Academy Trust providing outstanding education for students in our 13 schools - 11 based in BCP and 2 based in Weymouth. We provide education to accommodate the full school age range across our 6 primary, 5 secondary and 2 special schools.

To support our schools with their improvement journey in bringing ‘outstanding achievement for all’ in line with our values of ‘Inclusivity, Integrity, Openness and Honesty, we are seeking new members for our local governing boards, the Academy Advisory Committees.

Our Trust has positive and purposeful partnerships with the local committees as this is undoubtedly of great benefit to all of the children. One of the most significant ways you can contribute is to volunteer to be a governor on one of our academy committees.

The academy committee’s main objectives are to provide support and challenge to the school, ensure that all pupils receive a high-quality education and to plan for future development and improvement.

The committee meets with the Academy Principal once each term. Committee members also visit the school each term for a monitoring visit and are encouraged to actively support the school’s events.

All of our committee members bring unique experiences, perspectives and insights to the team to work together for the benefit of the school. You will have the opportunity to make a real difference to young people, make a valuable contribution to your local community and use and develop your own personal skills.

There are no special qualifications needed as the most important aspects of the role are to have a keen interest in the school and a willingness to play an active part in the work of the local committee.

The Trust has a comprehensive and supportive induction programme. Governance training, with access to the National Governors Association, and ongoing support is provided.

**Applicants will be invited to attend an informal introductory meeting that will provide an overview of the Trust and an opportunity to ask any questions.**
