**JOB DESCRIPTION**

**Job Title**:SSDU Administrator (Surgical Sterilisation Decontamination Unit)

**Location**:Epsom & Chessington, Surrey

**Reports to**:On-Site Manager, SWLEOC

**Salary**:Up to £23,500 per annum

**Main Purpose**
Genmed support the NHS by providing managed services in order to provide bot cost and operational efficiencies to support innovation and improvement, and ultimately to have a positive impact on the delivery of patient care. We have a great opportunity for the right person to have significant input and responsibility in supporting and improving these services to the NHS and ultimately their patients.

We are seeking an SSDU Administrator to join our team based at South West London Elective Orthopaedic Centre in Epsom. The primary elements of the role of SSDU Administrator include the effective management of instrument set administration, loan instrumentation, instrument and equipment repairs and associated clerical excellence with the latest surgical and technological advancements covering hip replacement and knee replacement as well as ankle, foot, shoulder and spinal operations.

**Key Accountabilities**
- To work alongside the established Genmed and supplier teams to deliver the agreed KPIs of the managed service contract to SWLEOC.
- To maintain effective and efficient administration of systems and procedures to ensure the requirements of theatres are met.
- To manage tray-lists including but not limited to review, maintenance, updating and instrument repatriation, processing changes as appropriate to ensure continual service improvement.
- To manage and resolve any non-conformance issues
- To communicate clearly and effectively all information as required to a range of staff both internally and externally at all levels.
- To establish, build and maintain professional, excellent working relationships with Theatre
- Staff/Stores Team/Suppliers/Internal Staff and the Sterile Services Supplier to ensure continual improvements to the service.
- To fully deal with queries from the theatre teams, communicating updates and the final outcome as appropriate.
- To manage the repairs process for instrumentation and equipment within SWLEOC.
- To ensure a high level of housekeeping and identification in all stores areas to maximise effective utilisation of space, ensure adherence to health and safety and ease of location of items.
- To ensure returns to suppliers are effectively managed, including interpreting and identifying product codes, quantities, and supplier, making appropriate administrative arrangements and amending records.
- Manage the sterile service provider customer service, ensuring timely provision of service delivery and non-conformance resolution.
- Receiving, handling and distribution of deliveries (instrumentation, implants and consumables) to stores/working areas.

- An eye for finer details involved in multiple item distribution and processes.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Process management and the ability to suggest and implement improvements
- Excellent customer service skills
- The ability to differentiate between important and urgent
- Self-motivation and ability to work under pressure with conflicting priorities.
- Good time management and the ability to work to tight timescales and extreme deadlines

**People Management**
There is currently no people management responsibility in this role.

**Contacts, Relationships & Staff Interaction**
This role requires high levels of positive and effective interaction with all levels of customers, suppliers, and management teams. The SSDU Administrator will interact with staff members at the Trust, the suppliers and Genmed internal staff. As a consequence, exceptional levels of customer service are required and as such are key to this position.

**Work Environment**
The position is spread across two sites based at SWLEOC, Epsom General Hospital and a site in Chessington. The position within the Trust is based close to the Trust operating theatres and as such you will be required to wear Trust provided surgical scrubs. There is some manual handling involved with this position in the form of handling stock however, you will not need to hold any special licences in relation to the same.
