We are offering you the chance to be a part of Ty Caredig’s Ltd children’s & young people’s residential home.

To contribute to the development of a residential service in a manner that maximizes the children’s and young people’s life chances. You will be working as part of an integrated team to ensure effective care and protection is provided to children and young people in the service provision. As a Residential Team Leader, you will be supporting children and young people in all aspects of their daily lives. Providing care, guidance, and support to the young people in our care, ensuring all their needs are identified and met whilst promoting choice, dignity, and respect. The safety, welfare, and positive esteem of everyone shall be at the heart of all your interventions and interactions. To work in partnerships to help children and young persons and their families to enable them to come to terms with their current and past life experiences, build confidence and self-esteem within the safety of the care environment, and provide a platform for them to live safely in a community. Engage, communicate, and listen to the children/young people and their needs. Work pro-actively; Provide essential care and nurturing to the children/young people and assist in providing a safe and therapeutic environment. To ensure the Company’s commitment to the safeguarding of children and young people is upheld and any areas of concern are reported immediately to the appropriate person.

A bit about the role

The young people's care will involve professional practice from therapists that is sensitive to their trauma history. Our model will provide an environment where they will receive positive experiences of reliable, consistent support through providing specific and structured care, with very clear consistent boundaries.

As a Team Leader you will be supervising staff and working alongside The Deputy and Registered manager to ensure the highest level of care is being delivered. You will assist in all aspects of managing the service and ensuring the smooth running of The Home. You will train and induct staff and allocate and monitor duties to ensure residential support/care workers develop their knowledge and skills, help in developing and implementing care plans for the children and young persons in our care, building a strong work ethic and positive environment within the home, you must be able to effectively work with others, deliver an excellent standard of care and demonstrate an in-depth knowledge of national mínimal standards, relevant legislation and understand best practice.

At the same time, we will provide specialist learning, training, and Supervision to enhance your professional development.

As instructed by Residential Managers/Deputy Managers to work when requested in assisting with all duties in connection with the safe day-to-day running of the home. Working with the staff team to implement Ty Caredig Ltd policies and to ensure the highest quality of care is delivered to the children/young people within our care. To work wherever requested in carrying out the above and to always comply with the policies and procedures of TY Caredig Ltd.

To ensure the Company’s commitment to the safeguarding of children and young people is upheld and any areas of concern are reported immediately to the appropriate person.

Please note this is a general description for a Residential Team Leader role, but duties are personalised to the Service User’s individual needs.
- Providing direct line management to a team of residential staff to deliver high standards of care.
- Leading shifts and supervising staff.
- Supporting children/young people to achieve positive outcomes.
- Being an advocate for the well-being of children/young people.
- Leading and assessing staff, carrying out supervisions, appraisals, and risk assessments.
- Put young people and children at the center of all the care provided. This includes involving them in all the decisions and choices about them.
- Assist the home manager in supporting the health and wellbeing of individuals in the home. This includes but is not limited to arranging appointments and supporting hygiene practices.
- A QCF Level 3 Social Care
- Experience of leading a team within a care setting
- Experience in a trauma informed setting, residential short breaks, or children's services
- Experience of clear, concise record keeping via IT systems
- Understanding of GDPR, Safeguarding and relevant policies
- To contribute to the Care Planning process of children cared for Ty Caredig Ltd by:

- Attending and preparing for children/young people’s conferences, reviews, planning, core group and other meetings in connection with children/young people placed with the company.
- Maintaining children/young people’s records accurately and within agreed timescales
- Undertaking Key Worker
