**THE ROLE**
The Woodland Trust is transforming Smithills Estate with a fresh vision, new access routes, improved infrastructure and deeper links to the large, diverse local community. Supported through the Heritage Lottery Fund, the Woodland Trust will give Smithills Estate the boost it needs to become a sustainable and thriving place - where landscape restoration and conservation can move forward hand in hand with the many hundreds of thousands of people who know, love and feel part of the estate.

The Events & Communications Officer will support the delivery of the NLHF programme, providing administrative support to our volunteer programme and input into our interpretation projects. In addition the role will create content for our social media channels and support with the delivery of our busy events programme and engagement activities, helping to inspire people about the landscape of Smithills and facilitating a deeper connection with woods and trees.

This is a Hybrid working role, where you’ll work part of your time at home and part of the time from our Regional Office based in Smithills, Bolton. Our Hybrid Working Policy is flexible and the frequency of time spent in your contracted office will vary across teams and job roles.

This is a fixed term, 12 month contract.

**THE CANDIDATE**
Passionate about our aims at Smithills estate, you’ll have some experience of outdoor event delivery and be an articulate communicator with an environmental interest in trees and woods and/or nature conservation. You’ll be comfortable communicating with a variety of audiences, from the general public, volunteers, schools and young people. This is a busy, hands on role, so you’ll need to be enthusiastic and proactive with a positive approach as well as being able to prioritise a busy workload.
