Your new role

Here at National Highways, we have an exciting opportunity for you to join as our new Regional Benefits and Value Manager within our Major Projects Regional Investment Programme (RIP) South West division. In your new role, you will oversee the benefits andvalue management for our South West programme, including working on £400m plus projects, and some of our smaller £100m plus but equally important projects within the programme.

This role can be based at our Bristol or Exeter Offices with a mixture of home working, and some travel to other locations (expenses covered).

What you’ll be leading on

Lead on benefits and value management within the region.
Will learn and develop in the profession of benefits and value management, taking a nationally active role in bringing and sharing best practices.
Deliver benefit & value management workshops to drive efficiency and value for money to all stages of the project lifecycle.
Articulate business risks in the context of the optimised Whole Life Cost (WLC) solutions by constructively challenging and supporting the project initiation and development phases. Work closely with the sponsorship and development team to assist project teamsto develop a robust and impactful business case, maximise opportunities and identify project benefits consistently.
Monitor the output of suppliers undertaking benefit and value management activities to monitor competence, consistency and compliance with National Highways processes and procedures.
Provide input into the development and rollout of further benefits and value management techniques and tools not yet established in National Highways.
Develop mechanisms for capturing and acting on customer feedback for continuous improvement.
Work collaboratively with our delivery partners, sponsorship and programme leaders to actively support the realisation of benefits from delivery frameworks.
To be successful you’ll need / transferable skills we are looking for (please provide a short cover letter explaining how you meet these skills)

Experience in identifying benefits, benefits mapping and drafting benefits registers. (Transferable skills - logic mapping, process mapping, drafting strategic cases or studies for projects or programmes).
Excellent writing skills; ability to write high-quality evidence-based reports, papers, briefing papers, and slide packs.
Great communication and influencing skills; ability to collaboratively work with and present to senior managers and directors.
Proven problem-solving and analytical decision-making skills. Producing and presenting complex technical solutions in plain and simple language and diagrams to support evidence-based decisions.
Proven facilitation experience in workshops and working groups, capturing and agreeing actions, and writing up results.
Advantageous but not essential (you will learn this on the job)

Strong benefits management comprehension - Benefits Cost Ratios, Key Performance Indicators, Critical Success Factors, and Value for Money.
Experience in quantitative and quantitative benefits management, business risk and project risk management.
Experience in quantifying the benefits and impacts across construction investment schemes through recognised methods & tools.
