- As our Catering Assistant, you’ll be working in all of our front of house catering areas, making sure that each guest is having the best possible LMH dining experience. You are responsible for the helping the smooth running of our dining room and function room services according to college standards and procedures. Always assuring a high standard of appearance, hospitality, service and cleanliness of dining rooM/Function rooms/Senior Common Room. You are at the forefront of our guest facing operationMain Tasks
- To make sure all guests gets a warm welcome as soon as they walk in.
- Make sure all of our spaces are set up to the requested requirements.
- Help our guests with any information or request about the menu, allergens, service, facilities, or the College.
- Serve our guests a variety of meals from either our servery or a formal dining experience.
- Ensure all equipment for example plates or service cutlery are ready for service.
- A tidy home is a happy home You’ll make sure all closing procedures have been completed in all areas ready for the following shift.
- Ensure all allergen, diet and other signage is correctly displayed and ready for when guests arrive.
- Ensure that everyone has a great dining experience whether a student, staff member or external guest.
- Attend any scheduled staff meetings necessary.
- Ensure high standards of appearance and personal hygiene for each service according to College standards.
- Perform manual handling activities such as cleaning rooms, setting out and clearing of tables, arranging furniture, cleaning spillages as and when they occur.
- The above is not an exhaustive list of duties and you will be expected to perform different tasks as necessitated by your changing role within the College’s organisation and the overall objectives of Lady Margaret Hall.**Responsible To**:Front of House Manager, Front of House Supervisor.**Liaison With**:Head of Catering, Front of House Manager, Catering Resources Manager, Front of House Supervisor, Kitchen Staff and GuestsPerson Specification

**Essential**
- Have a flexible, hands-on, motivated and positive approach to work.
- Physically able to complete lifting, walking, or handling of materials. Physical activities such as cleaning rooms, setting out and clearing of tables, arranging furniture, cleaning spillages as and when they occur.
- Confidence to liaise with other team members, students and guest to deliver what the guest wants.
- Good communication skills to ensure a knowledge of the catering details required for each service.
- To be aware of the LMH values and work by their ethos.
- Generally, IT literate
- General numeracy

**Desirable**
- Experience of working in a catering environment.

Terms and Conditions
- £11.35 per hour for 39-hours per week. The shift pattern is 5 days on, 2 days off (not always consecutive days). There is a mixture of morning, afternoon and evening shifts.- Benefits of working for the College include a fun and vibrant working environment, 36 days holiday (including bank holidays), at least 1 weekend off a month during term time, able to have at least one week of holiday time off at Christmas, the option to join a University pension scheme and one free meal whilst on duty and the kitchens are open, when the kitchens are closed a meal allowance will be paid.- Applicants must be eligible to work in the UK.-
