As part of our growth strategy, we are seeking to attract an Associate Director to form an integral part of our Leeds Office leadership team to lead our Property, Science and Industry business.

Your passion for the design and successful delivery of high-performing, large scale and complex buildings, combined with your natural ability to collaborate with and win the confidence of clients will put you in an ideal position to fulfil this exciting opportunity.

This is an important, strategic appointment where progression and the opportunity to further develop your own ideas within a wider multi-disciplinary business will be very much supported and encouraged.

An important part of the role will be to work in collaboration with peers across Arup’s offices throughout the geographic region.

**The Role**

The Leeds Office is a dynamic and vibrant part of Arup that has built a reputation for thinking and acting differently. It will be based within a beautiful space in the heart of the City and in line with the agreed strategy it is planned to grow significantly in the near future.

To support this growth, and to reinforce senior leadership in the office, we need to recruit an Associate Director with a focus on the development of the Property, Science and Industry team in the local region and beyond, delivering an increasingly broad range of services to clients.

The Associate Director, who will form an integral part of the Leeds office leadership team, will focus on wining and leading the successful delivery of high-performing, large scale and complex buildings.

Target markets include property, life sciences, advanced manufacturing, healthcare, higher education, and transport. In addition, and in collaboration with existing discipline leaders, you will provide leadership to the team of over 40 multi-disciplinary engineers.

You will lead engagement with clients to understand their key drivers, develop win strategies for major opportunities and lead the development of bids that represent the very best of Arup.

The team in Leeds work as part of a regional network and it is an essential part of the role to build relationships and promote collaboration across all offices to ensure we bring the best of our expertise to every project.

You will be based in our Leeds office, but it is expected you will commute to other Arup offices and beyond as project requirements and team, relationship, and internal networks demand.

As a Project Director, you will deliver a portfolio of projects and deliver excellent technical and commercial outcomes, with accountability for overall commercial performance and client satisfaction, always ensuring the Health and Safety of our colleagues and collaborators is at the forefront of our thinking.

You will raise Arup’s profile through development and communication of innovation and thought leadership via industry events, conferences and social media.

**The Person**

A Chartered engineering professional with a proven track record of leading major, complex multi-disciplinary projects.

You will have a demonstrable track record of leading high performing teams as well as creating and maintaining high value relationships with clients and external collaborators.

**Skills and Experience**

You will be able to demonstrate your understanding, skill, and experience in the following areas:

- Chartered professional with a recognised engineering institution.
- A passion for influencing the sustainable design and delivery of innovative solutions.
- Leading complex multi-disciplinary projects, including demonstrable success in technical and commercial management.
- Taking responsibility for health and safety on projects and helping shape impact and risk mitigation assessment and delivering best practice across the project cycle.
- Building client relationships and generating new work.
- Leading people development, contributing to wider networks and teams within the firm.
- Interest in digital transformation within the industry.
