**Job summary**:
The Finops Team Lead will be pivotal in helping UKHSA Technology understand and control its Cloud spend, working closely with stakeholders to help then consume our Cloud Services efficiently. Additionally, this role will cover all other aspects of FinOps financial control working with a Corporate Finance Business partner and liaising directly with Cloud Finance suppliers/partners.

The role reports directly to the UKHSA Head of Cloud Platform and the role holder will be expected to play an important part within the wider Extended Leadership Team.

This role sits within a wider Technology team that is transforming and expanding to enhance its Cloud offering. It is a diverse team of around 50+ individuals, building a dynamic and inclusive working environment. Covering Cloud Service Design, Development, Operation and Governance.

**Job description**:
As the FinOps Lead you will be responsible for all aspects of financial control for the Platform Engineering unit, including but not limited to:

- Working with UKHSA Corporate Finance to ensure the accurate distribution of Cloud Service costs within the UKHSA Technology team.
- Management of the cloud consumption costs performance of Stakeholders’ Cloud products/services.
- Support stakeholders in understanding and optimising their Cloud spend.
- Support stakeholders cloud operation financial planning and reporting activities within their remit.
- Owns and facilitates the Cost Optimisation process and strategy within UKHSA business owners and stakeholders.
- Liaises with Workload and subscriptions Owners on product financial performance and planning.
- Accountable for the implementation and management of the chargeback/ show-back process from core service functions to business portfolios.
- Supports Finance Business Partner with planning and reporting activities.
- Supports the funding process for hosting products development activities and act as the Single Point of Contact for Cloud Services financial management.
- Responsible for reporting and analysis to Senior Management and wider Technology directorate.
- Ensures Platform Engineering management tooling is maintained and developed.
- Supporting the scoping and prioritisation of new requirements as they emerge in your area - where applicable representing transformation in operational and governance forums.
- Undertaking concise packages of delivery work which may consist of undertaking analysis, facilitating or leading solution design, co-ordinating operational delivery or creating handover materials.
- Supporting your manager in planning across the workstream.
- Building collaborative relationships with operational stakeholders, conducting handover to operational run teams at an agreed, appropriate point of delivery.
- Input into regular reporting relating to initiatives you are leading in line with the agile methodology used across the Team, as well as feeding into general governance processes.
- Building up expert knowledge of operations, stakeholders, digital solutions and data

This role will suit an individual with a solid understanding of AWS and Azure Cloud supplier pricing models together with strong financial management experience.

A good understanding of billing processes and a head for data analysis will be required, along with strong customer management skills.

Skills required are:

- Excellent written, oral and presentation skills
- Able to communicate effectively up to Director level
- Strong Microsoft Visio and Office skills
- Expert in Microsoft Excel
- Excellent customer facing skills
- A basic understanding of Cloud computing and consumption-based service concepts
- Experience working in a matrixed and agile organisation
