The Tobacco Dependency and Smoking Cessation Service is an exciting new service within mental health which will continue to build on the work we have achieved to date working as part of the wider physical HealthCare service in improving physical health for mental health patients.

You will be part of a core designated team working across all hospital sites to ensure the service is equitable, responsive to referrals and delivers training for trust staff. Previous experience in smoking cessation work is advantageous, but is not essential as full training will be provided. This role will predominantly work with mental health rehab inpatient units in Brighton and West Sussex.

This role is vital to support the development of a first-class service working collaboratively with patients, frontline teams and professionals both within the trust and local external networks

You must have the motivation and desire to work with complex and often vulnerable mental health patients to achieve the best possible outcomes, improve the quality of care and contribute to the overarching agenda of tackling avoidable illness, reducing health inequalities and reducing demand on services.
- Working closely with our dedicated staff and 'experts by experience' across the Trust, under the direction of the Matron for Tobacco Dependency

this role will champion the delivery of an effective stop smoking service for all patients in receipt of SPFT services
- Working in a team of four Tobacco Dependency advisors you will work closely with services and locality leads to provide focussed support in the patient environment
- This role will deliver Smoking cessation training, and develop robust competency frameworks which support health improvements in achieving a high level of smoking cessation outcomes
- You will need to be passionate and confident with the communication skills to engage with patients, carers and staff across all levels of our organisation.
- You will have excellent organisational skills, and experience of using technology is essential
- You will be responsible for accurate recording of service user information electronically throughout each day, to ensure that record keeping meets the Trust standards

- Hold the relevant qualifications and experience (described within person specification)
- Have experience of working in health/social care services
- Be a positive role model for smoking cessation supporting patients to reduce harm from tobacco
- Have experience in working within a mental health/care setting
